Patricia Anne Strycker

LaPorte Hospital. Mrs. Strycker was born April 8, 1931, in South Bend, IN, to Ralph and Helen (Baum) Landen.

On December 23, 1951, in South Bend, IN, she married E. Philip Strycker, who survives. She was a member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and had managed LaPorte Teachers Credit Union and was part-owner of Zelden's Shoe Store for 23 years. She enjoyed traveling to various places and was an excellent travel hostess. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Wesley Fellowship, LaPorte Hospital Volunteer, and the Salem Chapel United Methodist Shepherd Group.

She was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and attended Manchester College and Bethel College. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and a devout Christian.

She leaves behind her husband, E. Philip Strycker of LaPorte, IN; two daughters, Gayle (Larry) Curtis and Sheri (Bob) Schuster, both of LaPorte; two sons, Mike Strycker of Valparaiso, IN, Steve Strycker of LaPorte; five grandchildren, Erin St. George, Matt (Angie) Curtis, Andrew Curtis, Bethany Schuster and Hannah Schuster; one great-granddaughter, Emma St. George; a brother, Tom (Sharon) Landen of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Dee Landen of Mishawaka, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Jim Landen.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 A.M. in Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Raschka officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 4-8:00 P.M. in Essling Funeral Home and Saturday in the church 9-10:00 A.M. Burial will be at Pine Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, 2802 E. State Road 4, LaPorte, IN 46350; or to American Cancer Society, PO Box 8653, Michigan City, IN 46360.
