Ida Lamora Parker, 78, of South Bend went to be with Robert, her husband of 49 years, at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in Hospice House, South Bend. Mrs. Parker was born January 24, 1932 in South Bend to the late Laura (Snyder) and Henry Jones and was a lifetime area resident. On June 5, 1948 in South Bend as Ida L. Jones she married Robert E. Parker who preceded her in death in 1997.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Violet Welker, Audrey Schroll and Cecelia McGowan; and four brothers, Robert, and Benny Jones and Lyman and Wilber Miller.

She is survived by her daughter, Rev. Doris C. Sparks (Terry) of Chelsea, MI; three sons, David E. Parker (Patricia) of Granger, IN, Frank C. Parker (Sylvia) of South Bend, and Edward R. Parker (Susan) of Mishawaka, IN; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Sparks (Erika), Scott Sparks (Kathleen), Rebecca Sparks Lowry (Shaun) Matthew David Parker (Kelly), Joshua John Parker (Teara), Heather Caitlin Parker, Nathan Parker (Rachel), and Daniel Parker (Sarah); five great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Jones (Irene) of Mishawaka.

Ida attended Mt. Pleasant School, Kaley School, and graduated from Central High School in 1948 where she was active in the school band. She had been employed at Bonnie Doon Restaurant, where she met Clark Gable, the South Bend License Bureau, and was a volunteer at the Center for Hospice Care for 11 years. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist church, the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Support Group, Central Booster Club, and AARP.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 7th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. with Rev. Reed Anderstrom of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today, January 6th in the funeral home.
