SOUTH BEND - Rolland (Rol) E. Hoffman, 80, formerly of South Bend, passed away in his home Sunday morning in southern California from complications of Parkinson's disease.

He graduated from Central High School in 1949 & from Northwestern Univ. with a BA in Fine Arts in 1952.

On April 22, 1960, he married Marilyn Jo McClure, his loving wife, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Pamela (Sam) Bentley of Washington, DC; granddaughter, Manuela Bentley; and grandson, Sebastian Bentley. Surviving also is his son, Chriss Hoffman of Plano, Texas. Rol's surviving siblings are his brother, Jim (Carolyn) of South Bend & sister Elynor (Dan) Dalton of Crofton, MD. He has several nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Elsie Hoffman. During the Korean War, Rol spent 2 years stationed at Schofield Barracks, O'ahu, Hawaii. Then 30 years after the war, Rol retired as President of the Mile High United Way of Denver, Colorado. Per his request, there will be no funeral services as he has donated his body to the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Rol will be sorely missed by his loving family & friends.

Memorials may be made to the St. Peter's United Church of Christ "Pipe Organ Fund" at 915 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46615. Rol was baptized and was a confirmed member, and was also a member of St Peter's Church choir for many years. Memorials may also be made to the Inland Empire Hospice Agency, 17284 Slover Ave., Suite 105, Fontana, CA 92337.
