Catherine (Megan) Portolese

Catherine A. Portolese, 85, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Cathy was born on July 29, 1929 in South Bend as the daughter of Jerome and Luella (Zuver) Megan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Megan; two brothers, Jerry Megan Jr. and Robert Megan and one granddaughter, Amy Nicole Singleton.

On May 30, 1951 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend as the former Cathy Megan she married Dr. Frank Portolese, he preceded her in death on May 24, 2014.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah (Dave) Singleton of Osceola, Cheryl (Jeff) White of Granger, Kimberly (Robert) Weber of Osceola; one son, Greg (Kathy) Portolese of South Bend. Seven grandchildren, Stacey (Rob) Richez, Austin and Stephanie Portolese, J. Andrew (Rachel) White and Tiffany White, Marie (Collin) Green and Benjamin (Allison) Weber; six great grandchildren, Knolan, Kaden, Cali, Caleb and Nevaeh White and Aaron Richez.

Cathy worked for her husband Dr. Frank Portolese D.D.S. in Mishawaka for 42 years before they both retired in 2000.

Cathy was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka and of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mt. Dora Florida, a past member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Daughters of Di Loreto, Tri Kappa Sorority and St. Joseph County Dental Auxiliary.

Visitation for Cathy will be Tuesday, July 28 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Where a Wake Prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, on Wednesday, July 29, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka with Father John Eze officiating. Entombment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
