Rosemarie (DeMeulenaere) Garis
Rosemarie Garis, 93, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024. She was born on June 10, 1931 in South Bend, Indiana to the late August J. and Rose C. (Wisniewski) DeMeulenaere. On June 10, 1950 she married Richard A. Garis who preceded her in death on March 16, 2017. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan Womack and one sister, Darlene DeMeulenaere. Rosemarie is survived by two daughters, Janet (Darrell) Womack of Parrish, Florida, Jamie (Todd Kirts) of Bristol, Indiana, two sons, John (Paula) Garis of North Liberty, Indiana, James Garis of New Carlisle, Indiana, 8 grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one former daughter in law, Marianne-Defalco Garis of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Rosemarie was a 1948 graduate of Central High School. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the West Side Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary.
A visitation for Rosemarie will be held on Friday August 9, 2024 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 in Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday August 10, 2024. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Rosemarie’s honor to Team Tony Foundation 1-to-1 Cancer support in her grandson Ryan Womack’s honor.
