Terry Lee Lacey

November 7, 1947 ~ April 29, 2022 (age 74)

Mr. Terry Lee Lacey, a resident of Osceola, IN, departed this life on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the age of 74, after a terminal illness.

Terry was born to Rosie Lacey on November 7, 1947 in South Bend, IN. He married his sweetheart Doloris Willis on June 4, 1974. He was a devoted husband and together they raised three beautiful children.

Terry graduated in 1968 from Central High School in South Bend, IN. In 1969, Terry was drafted and fought in the Vietnam War. Afterwards he enlisted and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force working as an Airport Fire Fighter. Sergeant Terry Lacey received an honorable discharge in June of 1974. His family is so proud and thankful for his service to this country. After his time in the military, Terry returned to his employment at Bendix and worked 33 years until retirement.

Terry was a loving, fun, and devoted father and grandfather. He truly loved spending time with and spoiling his grand and great-grandchildren. The great grandchildren called him Dooly. Seeing his babies always put a smile on his face. He and Mama kept many snacks, icee treats, pretzels, peppermints, and pops for the kids. He was a skillful mechanic and talented landscaper and loved sharing his skills and passion with his son and grandsons. The yard stayed immaculate. Dad was a great handyman and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. One of his and Mama’s favorite pastime was their trips to Sam’s Club and Costco for their hotdog-combo date; and Dad was always game for a trip to Cracker Barrel with his son. Terry loved fishing and his pride and joy were ‘those trucks’. Terry also enjoyed going to his sister Peaches’ house for Sunday dinners. His daughter appreciates him for being The Best Dad and always being there when she needed.

Loving family members left to cherish and honor his memory include one son, Darnell ‘Louie’ (Crystal) Foster, of South Bend, IN; one daughter, Nakia Lacey, of Osceola, IN; ten grandchildren, Brandee (Jay) Garza, Khendra (Anthwann) Ford, Danyel Fuller, Nachelle (DeCarlo) Redding Jr., Darius Lipsey, Paris (Yul) Thomas Jr., and Daijah Foster all of South Bend, IN; Darshay Foster of Indianapolis, IN; Dearrick Gandy of Osceola, IN, and Warren Taylor of Boston, MA; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lutisha ‘Peaches’ Moss, Gloria Hardy, Lena Simpson, and one brother Hurie Brown, all of South Bend, IN; special friends Robert Hunt, Charles Williams, and Joseph Ward all of South Bend, IN; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother Rosie ‘Mama Ro’ Lacey, his loving and beautiful wife of 42 years, Doloris Lacey, his devoted daughter Shataunia Lumpkins-Harris, his great-grandson, DaiDreon Barbour, and his brother Carl Lacey.

Services for Mr. Lacey will on Monday May 9, 2022 at 1 p.m with visitation held an hour prior in the chapel of Alford's Mortuary 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Shepherdess Ivy Butler will bring the word. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
