Dennis Allen Henderson, 72 years old, passed away at 2:03 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice. Dennis was born on January 9, 1950 in South Bend to the late Roy and Catherine “Kate” (Shearman) Henderson. He has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend. He enjoyed spending his free time at Birch Lake.

Dennis is survived by his two children, Neil (Mary) Henderson of Granger and Torry (Phil) Corbett of St. John’s, IN; and five grandchildren, Brooklyn, PJ, Bailey, Logan and Miles. He is also survived by his four sisters, Cathy (Bret) Warner of Spring Hill, FL, Diana (Craig Fredlake) Wozny of Vandalia, MI, Sandra (Neal) Henderson-Burd of South Bend, and Susan Miner of South Bend. Dennis is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and Dr. Laura Helman, prior daughter-in-law. He will be greatly missed.

Dennis graduated from South Bend Central in 1968 where he played football and baseball and later attended Holy Cross Junior College. He played softball for many years in the South Bend area and was nicknamed “Hendu” during this time and was called that for years. Many knew him as a professional bartender at several establishments and then at The View (old Park View) as his last job. He loved to watch sports, especially the beloved Cubs, “The Bears”, Indiana University and Purdue University.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Welsheimer Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
