Bruce Emory Wilson, 57, of Bloomington, entered into rest August 31, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

Born May 15, 1951 in Chicago, IL to the late Emory and Barbara (McKernin) Wilson. He was raised in South Bend, IN and graduated from Central High School in 1969. He then earned a BA in Inner Asian & Tibetan Studies here at IU Bloomington.

Bruce has been a student of Buddhism since 1974. He studied with many great teachers including Gehlek Rinpoche, and briefly was a fully ordained monk. He co-founded Ganden Dheling Buddhist Temple, here in Bloomington in 1989. In 1998, he was recognized as an incarnation of High Lama (teacher) from Inner Mongolia, Padkar Hothogthu Rinpoche. Bruce's compassion and devotion to Buddhism was apparent to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed in the local and international Buddhist community.

He leaves behind his loving wife Theresa Halter and siblings David Wilson (Marie) of St. Charles, MO, Elizabeth Wilson (Bruce deGrazia) of Vienna, VA, Paul Wilson (Leslie) of Bloomington and Margaret Gianoulis (John) of Ballwin, MO. Along with nieces and nephews, David, Hillary, Mallory, Barbie, Charles, Ian and Max.

The family invites you to an Irish, Bohemian, Buddhist Celebration of Bruce's life at the home of Paul and Leslie Wilson, 4040 Gran Haven Dr. September 6 at 6:30.
