Barbara D. (Loy) Butler
April 13, 1952 – August 29, 2024
Barbara D. (Loy) Butler, 72, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Center for Hospice Care Raclin House in Mishawaka, IN, following an illness.
She was born on April 13, 1952 to the late Amon Sr. and Alice (Bragg) Loy in South Bend, IN, and had lived most of her life in South Bend. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Butler; a sister, Marilyn Clauser; two brothers, Robert Loy; Amon Loy Jr.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Loy; and a brother-in-law, Richard Clauser.
Barbara graduated in 1970 from Central High School in South Bend and then received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from I.U.S.B in 1975. She retired in 2018 from The Lebermuth Company in South Bend, where she worked as a Purchasing Agent for 26 years. Prior to that, she worked at Healthwin Specialized Care in South Bend for 11 years.
On July 13, 1985, as Barbara D. Loy, she married Michael Butler. He passed away on September 2, 2019.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Butler of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Nevaeh Wilson, Alayah Green, Stephen Loy Butler Jr., Jream Ivey Butler, Serenity Mason, Ava Rose Michael Butler, Jonathan Kye Butler; two brothers, Jim Parker of Granger, IN; Martin (Jill) Loy of Coatesville, IN; and her loving dog, Jaxson.
Barbara was a member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church in South Bend. She felt lucky to call Patti Malohn her best friend since 1975. She loved her family and especially loved being a grandma.
