Terry R. Wheeler July 10, 1941 - Oct. 30, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Terry Richard Wheeler, 73, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Richard and Virginia (Emerick) Wheeler. He was also preceded in death by his stepmom, Harriet Wheeler; and grandson, Zachary Wheeler. On February 22, 2013, Terry married Lorraine Fishburn. She survives. Also surviving are his 3 daughters, Cathy (Martin) Suter of Ocala, Florida, Christina Wheeler of South Bend, Indiana, and Carrie Rastetter of South Bend, Indiana; two sons, Glen Wheeler of Livingston, Montana, and Jason (Stacey) Wheeler of South Bend, Indiana; sister, Candice Soeder of Deerfield, Florida; brother, Robert (Elanore) Wheeler of Mountain Home, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Anthony and Rebecca Suter, Angel Wheeler, Austin and Audrey Wheeler, and Colten and Caitlynn Rastetter; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and cousins.
Terry retired from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center as a security guard, and from South Bend Park Police Department. Before retirement, he volunteered 38 years with civil defense. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1960. He took his oath of serving and protecting very seriously.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November, 8, 2014, at ZB Falcons, located at 323 S. Sheridan, South Bend, IN. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 am 1:00 pm, with the memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Terry's honor.
