A Mass of Christian Burial for Janet A. Corona, 83, of Fairmont MN, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018, at St John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, MN. Burial of Janet and her husband, Joe Corona Sr., will be following the service at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the time of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be a time of fellowship and sharing memories at the Knights of Columbus Hall following the burial from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Janet Anne Corona passed away peacefully on February 18, 2018, in Loveland, CO with her children by her side. Janet was born on January 11, 1935, to Fred and Josephine (Smith) Mathews in South Bend, IN. Growing up in South Bend, Janet graduated from Central high school and was a member of the 1953 graduating class. Following her high school graduation Janet began her career in healthcare and soon thereafter met the love of her life, Joe Corona Sr.
On August 27, 1960, Janet was united in marriage to Joseph at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. This union was blessed with four children: Anita, Joe Jr, Mike, and Kathleen, whom all love and respect her dearly. Joseph and Jan settled in Fairmont in 1970 and made it their loving family home for almost 50 years.
Janet had a long career in healthcare, spending the last 25 years as a lab technician with the Fairmont Community Hospital. She also dedicated much of her time to raising her four children and maintaining the family home. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, gardening, and socializing with family and friends. In her retirement years, Janet spent considerable time volunteering and caring for others. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Arizona.
Left to cherish her memory include her children: Anita (Jack) Fort Collins, CO, Joseph Jr (Kim) of Houston, TX, Michael (Colleen) St Michael, MN, Kathleen (Eric) Denver, CO., 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and other extended family and friends.
