MICHIGAN CITY - Services for Paul M. Freel, 47, of Michigan City, who died Saturday night at his home after an illness of a year, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Carlisle Funeral Home. Rev. Alex Konya, pastor of the Mayflower Baptist Church, South Bend, of which he was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until the hour of services at the funeral home.

Born on March 11, 1935, in South Bend, he had lived in the Michigan City area for the past nine years. He was a 27-year employee of the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad where he had been section foreman.

On June 1, 1956, in South Bend, he married Barbara Carpenter. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Rose Lynn Parks of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Miss Dawn Freel of Michigan City; two sons, Paul E. and James M., both of Michigan City; a grandchild; six brothers, Linden of Niles; Robert J., Lawrence R., Stephen C., Richard L., and Eric F., all of South Bend; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Linden Freel of South Bend.

Twin sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge 980, the Veteran Association of the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad and a member of the National Geographic Society.

He was chairman of the executive committee of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Railway Employees
