Rosemary Elaine Budd (Stevens)

Rosemary Budd Stevens

Rosemary Budd Stevens devoted her life to caring for her family and welcomed the holidays because it meant having her family together.

"This was her season right now," said her son, Robert B. Stevens. "She was responsible for putting everything together during the holidays and she really loved that.

"She filled her home with love and looked forward to the holidays so her family could be together," the son said.

Stevens, 51, died at her home Friday.

She was born in South Bend, Ind. in 1935, and graduated from South Bend Central High School there. An interest in music led her to attend the National Music Camp-Center for the Arts at Interlocken, Mich., where she studied the piano and the trombone.

Later she attended Michigan State University and received her nursing degree in 1957. While at MSU she married Robert E. Stevens in a double wedding ring ceremony that included her brother, Charles Eugene Budd, at the Alumni Memorial Chapel May 18, 1957.

She practiced nursing for several years in Michigan. In 1963 she moved to San Antonio with her husband after his discharge from the Air Force.

She gave up nursing after her first child was born and dedicated herself to her children, the son said.
"She was a very loving mother. She loved us so much that she thought of us before she thought of herself," the son said.

Stevens enjoyed shopping with, and for, her family, had a green thumb when it came to gardening, and enjoyed playing the piano for her family and friends, the son said.

She was active in bridge clubs and was a member of the Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church and the Bexar County Medical Society.

Other survivors besides the son are former husband, Robert E. Stevens, one daughter, Catherine Marie Stevens, three sons, William E. Stevens, John R. Stevens and Richard D. Stevens, all of San Antonio.
Also, mother, Mrs. Kathryn Budd of South Bend, Ind. and two brothers, Travis G. Budd, South Bend, Ind., and Charles E. Budd, Lansing, Mich.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Park, with the Rev. Keith Huggins officiating
