MISHAWAKA - John Bauer Jr., 75, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011, in Hospice House.
John was born on October 27, 1935, in South Bend, to John Bauer Sr. and Helen (Masszi) Bauer, and was a lifelong resident. John retired from Sears Roebuck where he was employed as the Manager of the Shoe Department. John had been employed with Sears for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his three daughters, Susan C. (Fernando) Hernandez of Mishawaka, IN, Cheryl Dewispeleare of Lakeville, IN, and Lori (Rob) Johnson of Bremen, IN; six grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Dewispeleare, Heather Dover, Tammy (Jerry) Colburn, Mandy (Dewayne) Creighton and Tayah Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Lydia, Kaylie and Micah; his brother, Julius (Ilona) Bauer of Westville, IN; and his special friend, Etta Dewey of Orland Park, IL. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Bauer, and a sibling, infant Bauer.
John was a graduate of St. Stephen's Grade School and a 1953 graduate of Central High School. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish and Sears Retiree Club. John loved many things like watching the Cubs or Notre Dame football. He enjoyed Notre Dame women's basketball and bowling. He loved to fish and be outside. He loved to travel the world and the USA.
