James S Poage - Class Of 1944

Central 1944 James S Poage

June 22, 1925 ~ August 17, 2016

James S. Poage died Wed., Aug. 17, 2016 following a two-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was born to Charles S. and Therese M. Poage of South Bend, WA.

Following graduation for South Bend High School in 1944, Jim enlisted in the Army. He was attached to the 35th Infantry Division in Europe.

He attended CWCE and Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Jim married Shirley in 1949. He move to Vancouver, WA in 1952 and was active in many civic organizations. Jim was Exalted Ruler of the Vancouver Elks Lodge #823, 1970-71.

Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Eileen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two younger brothers, John Norval and Douglas.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Washington Elks Therapy Program for Children or a charity of your choice . Private services were held Wed.
