Central 1939 Florence E (Peters) Hahn

July 22, 1921 - July 14, 2016

SOUTH BEND - Florence E. Hahn, 94, lifelong South Bend resident, passed away peacefully at 12:15 pm Thursday, July 14, 2016 in her home. She was born in South Bend on July 22, 1921 to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Horvath) Peters.

On December 8, 1945 in South Bend, Florence married Landon Hahn, who preceded her in death on July 8, 1989. She was also preceded by a son, Francis E. Hahn; and sisters, Geraldine Peters and Mary Vascil-Tolley. She is survived by her daughter, Diane M. (Thomas) Pierce of South Bend; son, John L. (Nancy) Hahn of Osceola; grandchildren, John F. (Shannon) Hahn and Jennifer C. (Dan) Schmidtendorff; and great-grandchildren, John L. and Madison L. Hahn and Evann and Ryann Schmidtendorff.

Florence graduated from Central High School, South Bend in 1939. She worked at Hat Land and then managed the hat department at Grayson's Department Store in her younger years. She was a long-time member of St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and bowling, especially mixed doubles.

The family would like to give special thanks to Florence's caregivers, Sue Clark and Terry Paukert, as well as the clergy from St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, July 18, 2016 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm, as well as one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be donated to St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church or the Center for Hospice Care, c/o Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
