Diane L. (Deka) Spencer

MISHAWAKA — Diane L. Spencer (Deka), 62, passed away in her home on Tuesday, April 3rd, from her battle with cancer. Diane was born on October 29, 1949, in South Bend, to Casimir (deceased) and Ethel (Stopper) Deka.

On August 26, 1995, in South Bend, as the former Diane Deka, she married Stephen I.Spencer. Surviving are her mother, Ethel Deka, of Mishawaka; husband, Stephen of Mishawaka;and daughter, Kristie (Ted) Buesching, also of Mishawaka.Also surviving are her siblings, Judy (Jim) Birkner of South Bend, Mike (Jan) Deka of Mishawaka, Nanci (Joseph) Jozwiak of South Bend and Gregory (Julie) Deka of South Bend. Diane also has two stepsons, Dustin Milton and Stephen Spencer Jr.;two grandchildren, Jacob and Sophia Buesching;as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She worked for many years for the State of Indiana in the Family and Social Services agency and the Department of Child Services as a secretary.She loved gardening, yard work, decorating, being with her grandchildren, and spending time with her family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W.8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, in St.Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev.Terry Fisher officiating.Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. 

The family would like to extend a Special Thank You to Dr.Bilal Ansari, Ruth Conley, Nurse Practioner, all of the staff at Michiana Hematology/ Oncology, and the wonderful Hospice workers.And a very special thanks to Carol Gleckler and Gloria Maples who were always there for Diane.
