SOUTH BEND, IN - Famed Plein Air Painter, Artist and Creative, Lawrence Chrapliwy Dies at 71. 

Larry Chrapliwy began his advertising career in Toledo, Ohio. He left an indelible mark on the world in many ways. He started his career at L.O.F., winning several Gold Ad Club Awards, including Best of Show in 1978. He became a fixture of the raucous Toledo Ad Community working for and founding several agencies including Chrapliwy Meier; Packo, Mitchell, Hansen and Comer; Chrapliwy Otis and Studio C. 

His diverse thinking and inventive mind crafted notable campaigns including Breast Cancer Awareness for Flower Hospital, Champion Spark Plugs, The Toledo Blade, Owens-Corning Fiberglas and hundreds of others. 

He simultaneously maintained a fine art studio with artists like Jesse Mireles. He moved to Port Washington, New York in the early 2000s and fell in love with Plein Air painting. Larry was an Artist in Residence at the Sands-Willet House, teaching kids and artists alike. 

Larry died September 12, driving his beloved Chinook (Plein Air Mobile) of a massive heart attack and was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

In addition to his wife Lynne, Larry is survived by his two sons, Kerry Chrapliwy and Keith Chrapliwy; three daughters, Allison Russell, Erika Chrapliwy, and Andrea Chrapliwy; seven grandchildren; and six sisters, Vicki Price, Sandra Morrissey, Pat Chrapliwy, Joann Miller, Becky Mayfield, Shirley Perry. 

The Funeral will be held on 10/19 at 11:00 am at Cedar Grove Cemetery at Notre Dame, followed by a luncheon at the Inn at St. Mary's at 12:30pm.
