Mrs. Margaret Ora Thomas, age 75, of South Bend, IN, has gone to be with the Lord. She departed this life on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 5:10 PM in Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. She was born on February 10, 1949, to the union of Rev. David T. Tate Sr. and Sis. Ruth (Woods) Tate in Memphis, Tennessee, both of whom preceded her in death.

Margaret gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized by her late father, Rev. David T. Tate Sr. She later joined Pilgrim Baptist Church in 1965 under the leadership of the late Rev. Charles G. Rowlette, where she was also a devoted member of the Mass Choir.

Margaret graduated from Central High School and went on to study Budgeting at Ivy Tech Community College. Throughout her life, she held many jobs, including working at the Marriott, Liberty Mutual, and as a private duty caregiver. She loved watching movies, singing, and was a member of the Empty Pocket Band as well as many other local music groups.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory three sons: George Jones III (April), Shawn Jones (Stacey), and Demetrius Thomas, all of South Bend. She is also survived by her brother, David T. Tate Jr.; her sisters, Dorothy Jones and Dora (John) Engram of Chicago, IL, and Barbara Tate-Alley of South Bend; and her god-brother, Rev. Marvin Bingham.
