Mr. Dennis Norman Blount, 48, was born on March 13, 1949, in South Bend, Ind., to Helen O. and George W. Blount, Sr. Dennis was the third of five children. Except for time served in the U.S. Navy, he was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, the class of 67.

He was a lifetime member of Greater Saint John Missionary, where he united under the leadership of the late Rev. Bernard L. White. He was Is the church's musician and was a member of the men's class of the Sunday School Department. Dennis was a veteran of the United States Navy and an employee of the United States Postal Services. He was also a member of the Protestant Church Bowling League.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his father, George W. Blount, Sr., of Chicago, IlI.; two loving daughters, Sonja Marie of Indianapolis and Kelley Danielle, and by a son, Staton Blount, both of South Bend; a sister, Vicki Blount; two brothers, George W. Blount, Jr., and Kenneth (Shirley) Blount, and a sister-in-law, Rhonda Blount, all of South Bend; three grandchildren, Cassie and Damon of Indianapolis, and Staton, Jr., of South Bend; a special friend, Bessie Selmon of South Bend; and by a host of other relatives and friends.

He will be reuniting in new life with his mother, Helen O.Blount, and his brother, Russell D. Blount, who both preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Clark Funeral Home handled arrangements
