Barbara Jean Shake

Barbara J. Shake, 56, of Orange County, Calif., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness on Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, in the home of her sister, Jane Ann Ullery. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Shirley Shake; her mother, Elizabeth Shake-Koppy; and her stepmother, Nancy Shake. Barbara is survived by her stepfather, John Koppy of Edwardsburg, Mich.; her sister, Jane Ann (Roger) Ullery of Spartanburg, S.C.; her brother, William ''Bill'' (Sandy) Shake of Corpus Christi, Texas; a stepsister Colleen Long of Lakewood, Ohio; and by a stepbrother, Jerry (Irene) Martin of Des Moines, Iowa. Barbara also leaves 16 nieces and nephews, as well as many ''great'' nieces and nephews, with cherished memories.
Barbara graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1960 where she met and maintained a dear friendship with Marlene Blankenship.
Friends are welcomed to attend a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Highland Cemetery Mausoleum, Portage Avenue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice.
