Edward A. Sears, 41, of 55341 Wintergreen Road, New Carlisle, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, after a lengthy Illness. He was born on April 13, 1942, in Fort Wayne and had lived in South Bend most of his life, coming from Fort Wayne.
He is survived his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Sears of New Carlisle; a son, Jan-Charli Sears of California; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Finch of Jupiter, Fla.; and two brothers, James M. Sears of Hoboken, N.J., and John T. Sears of Newtown, Pa.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan, with Rev. Mary Lundgren, of Zion United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
He was a pianist. He graduated from South Bend Central High School, and the Berkley School of Music in Boston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the music scholarship fund at Zion United Church of Christ.
