Billie J. Wesley, 83, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 11:24 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on November 2, 1941, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Jacob and Hester Long, Billie was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and deep devotion to her family and community. She retired from Logan Industries, but her passion for nurturing young minds led her to establish Kidz Care Daycare, where she made a lasting impact on countless children and families.
On October 10, 1960, Billie married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Wesley, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories over their 64 years of marriage.
Billie leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom through her children: Angela Wesley of South Bend, Indiana; Phillip (Deborah) Wesley of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and Derrick (Leslie) Wesley of South Bend, Indiana. She was a devoted grandmother to Taylor Wesley, Derrick Wesley Jr., Alia Wesley, and Blake Wesley, and a proud great-grandmother to Kaylenna, Alana, and Laila. Her love extended to her siblings, Mabel Long of Danville, Indiana; Jeanette Long of South Bend, Indiana; Thomas (Marsha) Long of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Robert Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Hester Long, as well as her beloved siblings, Laura Gray, Lula Bell West, Sarah Long, John Ellis Green, Jake Long Jr., and George Long.
Billie’s warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of many beyond her immediate family. She had a profound impact on a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends, who cherished her guidance, humor, and unwavering support. Whether through her faith as a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Chain O’ Lakes Congregation, her love for shopping and gardening, or the simple joys of spending time with her family, Billie’s presence brought light and love to all who knew her.
A private service will be held, and Billie will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Kaniewski Funeral Home in South Bend, Indiana.
Though she has departed from this world, Billie’s love, kindness, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
