Richard Otto Baker, 39, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of South Bend, died unexpectedly Saturday in Stinson Beach, Calif., where he was vacationing. He was born on Aug. 7, 1941, in South Bend, and had lived here most of his life.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary Anderson of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Tim of South Bend and Paul of Denver, Colo.: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Baker of Mishawaka; and his grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Baker of South Bend.

Private graveside services were Wednesday in Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Eberhart.

Douglas Jay Baer (1960)

Richard is always in my heart. He died young, in his 20s, I believe, out in California. He was my cousin and we did our best to take care of eah other, but sometimes that's not enough. May his memory be a blessing (z"l)
