Michael C. Kerestury, 75, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 5:19 am in Franciscan St. Anthony Health - Michigan City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 101 St. John Road, Michigan City, IN with Rev. William Fine and Rev. Victoria Ubben officiating. Entombment will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN and from 9:00 am until service time Wednesday at St. John's United Church of Christ.

He was born December 13, 1939 in South Bend, Indiana to the late William and Mary (Fabursky) Kerestury. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Teter. On July 28, 1963 in Richmond, IN he married Judy Kanke who survives in Michigan City.

Also surviving are a daughter, Kristin (Scott) Shoub of Glen Ellyn, IL; son, Jeffrey (Colleen) Kerestury of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica Shoub, both of Glen Ellyn; and his brother, William Kerestury of South Bend, IN.

Mike was a proud graduate of Central High School in South Bend, IN and Ball State University with a BS and MS in Science. He worked as a teacher at Elston Jr. High and Barker Jr. High for 4 years, Arno Tape as Technical Director and retired from the Chemical and Environmental Depts. of NIPSCO. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where he was president and consistory member. Mike enjoyed volunteer work at Open Door Health Clinic, tutoring at the public library, Habitat for Humanity (helped build 7 houses in Michigan City), St. John's church projects and was a regular helper to neighbors and friends. He enjoyed woodworking, many years of jogging and exercising, his children and grandchildren, Notre Dame Football, his McDonald's breakfast group, his friends and his dog Max.
