Jere T. Zapf

Jere T. Zapf, 58, of South Bend and Michigan City, Ind., passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2004.

Beloved father of Natalie, 17, Leslie, 12, and Robert, 10; and loving brother of Ann Getchell.

Jere was born to Lillian Hagarty and (the late) Robert T. on Oct. 3, 1946. Jere was a Vietnam veteran, a Purdue University student, and a Boilermaker of Local 374. He worked in the steel mills for 35 years. He was also a loving and proud father to his three children. He loved to take them out to dinner at the Fortune House Restaurant. His favorite thing to do was go to auctions.

A memorial service will be held in the Disabled American Veterans building, 2301 Ohio St., Michigan City, on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
