Gloria Jean Harris

SOUTH BEND Gloria Jean Harris, 49, of Chicago, formerly of South Bend, died Monday in Roseland Community Hospital, Chicago, after an illness. Miss Harris was employed as a psychiatric social worker. She was born July 30, 1946, in South Bend.

She is survived by her father, Luther E. Harris of South Bend; five sisters, Karen Harris Lax of South Bend; Juanita Harris of Franklin, Ohio, Denise McMallin of Cincinnati, Judith Harris of Atlanta, and Carolyn White of Chicago; two brothers, Luther Harris Jr. and Michael A. Harris, both of South Bend; and a maternal grandmother, Ursalene Davis of South Bend.

She was a former member of Grace AME Zion Church, a graduate of Central High School, Ivy Tech State College, the University of Cincinnati, with a bachelor's degree, and Chicago State University, with a master's degree.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call two hours before services on Saturday in the church. Clark's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
