Daniel A. Sage of Henderson

SOUTH BEND - Daniel A. Sage of Henderson, NV, passed away on February 21, 2012, in his home from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Dan was born on November 28, 1944, in Mishawaka, IN, and had lived many years in South Bend and Michigan City, IN, before relocating to Nevada in December 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and Ruth M. (Rosheck) Sage, and his brother, Alfred L. Sage II. Surviving are his wife, Tammy of Henderson, NV; daughters, Lauren (Eric) Rizzi of Hurricane, WVa, and Julie (Chris) Crider of South Bend, IN; brothers, David (Monica) Sage of South Bend, IN, and William (Mary) Sage of LaPorte, IN; sister, Joan Weaver of Henderson, NV; and three grandchildren. Dan grew up in South Bend, IN, and graduated from Central High School.

After high school he served in the U.S. Air Force with the Strategic Air Command. Upon discharge from the service he joined Bethlehem Steel where he worked for 34 years in supervision and management. Following his retirement from Bethlehem Steel, Dan went to work for the Department of Homeland Security at the South Bend Regional Airport. Dan was a disabled American veteran and was a member of the American Legion.

He was a graduate of Purdue University, having received two associate degrees and a Bachelor of Science degree. He received an MBA degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. A memorial service to celebrate Dan's life will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 1:00 pm in the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, South Bend, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association of Indiana.
