GRANGER - Harold Dee Hooton, 65, of Granger, IN, passed away in his home, on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. He was born on June 16, 1944 to Edgar L. and Virginia M. (Huston) Hooton in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident.
His father, Edgar L. Hooton, preceded him in death. Mr. Hooton retired in June of 2006 from Clark Food Service, where he worked from 1972-2006. On October 27, 1989, he married Rita K. Fee in Mishawaka, IN. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita K. (Fee) of Granger, IN; his mother, Virginia M. Hooton of Coopersville, MI; one daughter, Beth Hooton Kreppein (Mike) of New Carlisle, IN; four sons, Neal S. Hooton; Jeff L. Hooton; and Derek (Carla) Frick, all of South Bend, IN; Scott M. (Patty) Hooton of San Diego, CA; two step-sons, John (Alisha) Stevens of Muncie, IN and Tim Stevens of Orlando, FL; 14 grandchildren; and a sister, Kathleen (Herb) Gross of Michigan.
Harold was a member of Harley's Owner Group, South Bend Chapter #1309 and Teamsters Local #364 in South Bend, IN. He was a family man and loved his family dearly. Harold loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. today, December 13, 2009 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, with Elder Carolyn A. Smith officiating. Cremation will follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Olive Chapel Cemetery, New Carlisle, IN.
