In Memory
Barbara T. (Harlozinski) Skubiszewski
September 23, 1945 ~ January 29, 2025 79 Years Old
Barbara T. Skubiszewski was a caring unconditionally-loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and person. She was full of beautiful emotion and heart, always ready to listen with compassion and empathy - she shared her love in good and bad, whenever you needed her. Barb or Bee, as loved ones called her, had a great sense of humor with a boisterous laugh that could fill a room, and quick wit – she was social and outgoing, all the while making you feel at ease. She was a talented cook, baker, had the gift of fashion and interior decoration, crafter, loved playing games on the computer and with her son, euchre with friends, and cards with family. As a mother, she was priceless in her passion for our well-being and invested her energy in us throughout our lives.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of South Bend, IN who graduated from Central High School in 1963. A devoted Catholic, Barbara was a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka parish for over 40 years, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She spent her work-life with State Farm Insurance for 40 years, where she loved to help and talk to all the customers. She was also a member of the Christ Child Society where she enjoyed volunteering and was a former member and Treasurer of the St. Joseph County Homemakers Society. Barbara loved her dogs and treated her grand-dogs with all the love you could possibly imagine.
She is survived by her husband, Francis “Skuby” J. Skubiszewski to whom she was married for an unheard of 57 years of commitment, this coming May. She has two surviving children, Aaron Skubiszewski of South Bend, IN and Stacey Skubiszewski of Cincinnati, OH. Also surviving, a sister Sharon Harlozinski and brother Stanely (Mary Ann) Harlozinski both of South Bend, IN.
Sadly, Dementia and illness took over her final days, but giving all glory and praise to God, He led us to the blessing of Hospice care. She was surrounded by her loved ones during her last moments and went home to the Lord in no pain with peace and dignity. Our family was amazed at the love and care Hospice provided.
