Carole Ann (Frederick) Grey

Carole Ann (Frederick) Grey died September 19, 2022, after a long illness. She was born December 18, 1944, the daughter of George and Kathryn Frederick of South Bend. She grew up in the historic Chapin Park neighborhood near downtown, and graduated from Central High School in 1963.

She married James W. Grey, Jr., in 1964. They made their home on the south side of South Bend, where they raised their two boys, James III and Richard. Carole was a stay-at-home mom for many years before becoming an aide at James Monroe School and later attendance secretary at Riley High School. She finished her career as a clerk in the St. Joseph County Probate Court.

Carole is survived by James and his wife Margaret, Richard, grandsons Damion and Garrett, and step-grandchildren Jeff, Zach, Lain, and Aaron Rawson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and step-granddaughter Rana Nolen.

At Carole's request, there will be no services. If you wish to honor Carole's memory, please make a donation in her name to your local animal shelter or Humane Society.
