Dennis B. Winters

Nov. 4, 1942 - Feb. 3, 2005

Dennis Bruce Winters Sr., 62, was born November 4, 1942, to his proud parents, James and Alfred Lee Winters in South Bend, Indiana. He was the oldest of four (4) children. He was educated in the Indiana school system.

Dennis attended the Conservatory of Music in South Bend and later played the piano for the Sunday School Department of Grace A.M.E. Zion Church. He sang with the youth choir and was part of the Herring House Community Center and the Continental Club.

Dennis moved to Detroit in 1969 where he worked for Rochester Midland for 14 years. Dennis then pursued his great love for landscaping where he worked until his health began to fail.

Dennis later met Vickie Nichols and they were married June 26, 2004.

Dennis leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Vickie Nichols Winters; his mother, Alfred Lee Winters; eight children, Dennis Winters Jr., Joanna Harvell (Grady), Christopher Winters, Donna White, Maurice Winters, all of South Bend, IN, Brandon Sterling (Damen) of Taylor, MI, Keith and Karen Jones of Lansing, MI; three sisters, Diane J.W. Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, Barbara Chase and Wendy Winters, both of South Bend; six grandchildren; uncle, Henry Morrow (Hattie) of South Bend; one Aunt, Dora Morrow of Springfield, MA; and a host of relatives and friends.

His father, James Winters, preceded him in death.

Services held at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 4800 Van Dyke, Detroit, MI 48214. Rev. Curtis R. Grant officiated.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
