Lawrence D. Schlundt, 59, died December 31, 2003. He was born January 4, 1944, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Wilbur F. and Evelyn (Chambers) Schlundt, both of whom preceded him in death.

On May 15, 1999, he married Linda Hambouz, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Joel (Sami) Schlundt of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Jon Schlundt of South Bend Indiana; 2 granddaughters, Emily and Anna Schlundt, also of Mishawaka.

He was a friend to Linda’s children, Annissa Hambouz of Mill Valley, California, and Michael Hambouz of New York, New York; a sister, Linda (Doug) Germann of South Bend, Indiana; a brother, Lee (Kim) Schlundt of Goshen, Indiana.

He is survived by his mothers-in-law, Marjorie Gramza of South Bend, Indiana, and Rena Greve of Flint, Michigan; and 6 nieces, nephews, 3 great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Larry graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1962, and attended IUSB. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army in 1968 after serving in Korea. He went to work for Western Electric, Indiana Bell, and retired from A.T. & T. in the fall of 2000. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and C.W.A. (Communication Workers of America).

He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Laurel Road and was currently serving as the congregational president. He was a devoted father, grandfather, a true friend and beloved husband.

Visitation for Larry will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, Indiana. Committal services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Riverview Mausoleum Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 51490 Laurel Road, South Bend, Indiana. Rev. Gregory Fiechtner, pastor of the church, will conduct the service.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 51490 Laurel Road, South Bend, IN 46637.
