SOUTH BEND -- Don Perkins, 62, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2006, in St. Vincent's Inpatient Hospice Facility in Indianapolis after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on April 18, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Stanley Reuben Perkins and Gail (Shively) Dreibelbis who both preceded him in death (1965 and 2002 respectively).

Surviving Don are one daughter, Tristine Perkins, and her two children, Ethan and Jorie Barrows, all of Indianapolis; and many good and caring friends.

A resident of South Bend since early childhood, Don graduated from Central High School in 1962. He graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Indiana University (Bloomington). He worked as a chemist at Royal Adhesives and Sealants (formerly Uniroyal) for forty years.

His interests and joys included spending time at the lake, fishing, nature, woodworking and being with friends and family.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006, in Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Ave., South Bend. Friends and family are invited to share loving thoughts and memories during the service and are welcome to visit with family between 10:30-11:00 prior to the service.
