Ronald Michael Lizzi

Ronald Michael Lizzi, 62, of Granger, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, August 15.
Ron is survived by his wife, Linda (Williams-Wolfe), and his two children, Kate and Jim. Also surviving are his sister, Jackie Umbaugh; his stepmother, Nina Lizzi; and her son, Jeff Lizzi.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Angela (Lamirand), and father, Andrew Lizzi.
Ron was a lifelong resident of the South Bend area. He attended Holy Cross, and was a graduate of South Bend Central and Indiana University. Ron was a teacher in the SBCSC for 33 years, teaching 6th grade for 27 years at Nuner, while finishing his career as a physical education teacher for six years at Lincoln and Marshall.
He was an avid sports fan, coaching in the school corporation, and later for his children's teams. Ron also was a member of the St. Joe Valley Officials Association and was a former commissioner for the Harris Baseball-Softball Association.
Visitation will be held in the McGann Hay Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter on Cherry Road, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call one hour before services in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
