Jerald Anthony "Jerry" Weger Oct. 12, 1942 - Oct. 9, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Jerald Anthony "Jerry" Weger, 71, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014, in Hospice House.

Jerry was born on October 12, 1942, in South Bend, to Anthony and Anna (Horvath) Weger. His life was committed to service. Following graduation from Central High School, South Bend, in 1961, he enlisted in the Army and was based in Fort Meade, Maryland. After serving his country, Jerry served his community, retiring from the South Bend Police Department in 1998 with a career spanning 30 years. He then worked in automobile sales at Basney Ford.

On June 1, 1968, in Berrien Springs, MI, he married the former Julia Anne Dobbins, who survives along with a daughter, Tonya Lea Weger of Marina del Rey, CA, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Horvath of South Bend. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steve Horvath.

Jerry's many interests included bowling, stamp collecting, coaching girls softball, and caring for his beloved family dogs. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame fan.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation has taken place. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation.
