Thomas Thornton

March 31, 1943 ~ March 20, 2020 (age 76)

Thomas Thornton, 76, of Plymouth, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center-Plymouth Campus.

Tom was born March 31, 1943 in South Bend, to the late Duane and Margaret (McClellan) Thornton.

After the unexpected death of his father Duane in 1968, Tom purchased the family bar business, The Harvey House Hotel in Constantine, Michigan. He became owner and operator of several bars in Indiana and Michigan.  He also was a volunteer for many years with the Constantine Fire and Rescue.

On June 30, 1962, Tom married Carol McMillan; and she survives.

Surviving with his wife Carol of Plymouth, are their children, Jody (Preston Nice) Thornton-Nice of Plymouth, and Bruce Thornton of Plymouth.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Carley Jo Comiskey, Jakub Mark and Dakota Nice; two great-grandchildren, Nova Comiskey and Isabelle Madison; one brother, Jack Thornton of Grand Rapids, Michigan; as well as a special friend, Don Mark Jr. of Plymouth.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joyce (Thornton) Witek, and a brother, Terry Thornton.

No services are planned at this time.

Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 North Michigan Street, Lakeville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
