ELKHART — Ronald D. Sayer, 73, passed away at home Saturday, March 7.

Ronald was born March 27, 1941, in South Bend, to John and Irma (Hoffmann) Sayer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

On Nov. 27, 1987, in South Bend, he married Kathleen. She preceded him in death Dec. 23, 2012.

Surviving are his mother-in-law, Lola “Mae” “Jo” Wise of South Bend; stepdaughter Kelli (D.J. Olivier) Compton of South Bend; son Michael (Kelly) Romano of Circle Pines, Minn.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Evan Romano; sisters-in-law Diana Korpal of South Bend and Ginny (Daryl) Holycross of Plymouth; brother-in-law Ron “Skip” (Georgianne) Compton of South Bend; and many nieces and nephews.

Ronald was a tool and die maker for 40 years at various manufacturing companies. He recently worked for Woodbridge as a maintenance man. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps active duty and reserves.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 12, with a funeral service at noon, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth St., Mishawaka. Pastor David Klahr will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in South Bend, with military rites by the VFW Post 360/​American Legion 161 burial teams.
