James R. Remble

Aug. 6, 1943 - Mar. 24, 2014

James R. Remble, 70, beloved husband, son, brother, father and papa, residing in South Bend, passed away at 12:30 am Monday, March 24, 2014 at home. He was born August 6, 1943 in Waynesboro, PA to Richard E. and Rosemary (Molnar) Remble, and has lived in the South Bend area since childhood.

Jim served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He became a union electrician and belonged to the IBEW Local #153 since 1968. He retired August 1, 2006 as a project manager after 19 years with Herrman and Goetz.

On October 1, 1966 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, Jim married the former Carol Pecze, who survives. He is also survived by his mother, Rosemary Remble of Bluffton, SC; daughters, Jill Monforte (Paul Singleton) of South Bend and Melinda Garcia of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Monforte, Kenneth Karczewski and Meah Garcia; one sister, Sue Remble of Bluffton, SC; two brothers, Larry (Susan Tyler) Remble of Cypress, TX and Tom (Beth) Remble of Knoxville, TN; as well as a longtime family friend, Cathy Wood. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; and one sister, Nancy Wroblewski.

Jim was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a former member of the Elks #235. He and Carol loved to travel and went on numerous cruises. They especially loved cruises to Hawaii and the Panama Canal. Jim's favorite thing to do was to sit on the balcony of his cruise ship cabin, watching the waves. Jim was an avid fisherman. Nothing gave him more pleasure than fishing with his brother, Larry, in Texas, catching those huge bass! Jim was a devoted Notre Dame football fan and never missed a game. However, more than anything, family was most important to him.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 28, 2014 in the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Rev. Msgr. William C. Schooler officiating.
