Joseph Patrick McFarland, 60, of Osceola, Ind., passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 10, in Regency Place of South Bend, Ind.

He was born June 30, 1943, in South Bend, to the late Howard and Claire (Burkus) McFarland.

On Nov. 27, 1967, he married the former Sandra Carter, who survives, along with his son, Joseph P. McFarland and wife Tina; three grandchildren, Ryan P. and Michael V. McFarland, and Vincent A. Shearman; and by one brother, Howard S. and Carol McFarland of South Bend.

Pat graduated from Central High School and was a life-long resident spending the last 25 years in Osceola. He worked for AM General for 20 years in the purchasing department. He was an enthusiastic member of the Osceola Dragstrip and enjoyed restoring and drag racing muscle cars with his son. He was a World War II history buff, an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Pat was devoted to caring for his wife, Sandy, and to his family and friends, and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Welsheimer North Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road. There will be no services. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery Memorial.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
