Katherine Ann Sieradzki

Katherine Ann Sieradzki; 81, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2019. She was born on April 2, 1938, to the late Stephen and Josephine (Siderits) Radecki in South Bend.
On September 13, 1958, she married the love of her life, Robert Sieradzki. He survives along with their children, Jay and Jill (Lewis) Chamberlain; and two grandchildren, Shannon (Kristina) Kuchik and Robert, whom she cherished and treated like her own children. Her sister, Shirley Sieradzki, also survives her.
Katherine could grow or rescue any plant and enjoyed gardening and landscaping immensely. She loved the outdoors. She also adored animals; and leaves behind her faithful pug, Foxy. Music and dancing were also a big part of Katherine’s life. Her taste in music included almost every genre. She loved to take walks and could find beauty in the smallest things. She would often return home from a walk with her pockets filled with rocks that she would pick out along the way. Kathy would also pick up pine cones and other offshoots of plants to create wreaths and other crafts with them. She possessed a great eye for seeing things that others might over look, whether it be in a thing or in a person.
Katherine had quite the imagination also. This allowed her to tell stories and make up games during the many fun-filled days she spent with her grandchildren. She would make fancy hors d’oeuvres for them. They enjoyed playing pool, basketball, football, and baseball together. She enjoyed every second she spent with them.
Katherine and Bob loved to go fishing, even while they were on their honeymoon. She loved to tell the story of how one time they were out fishing and she caught her limit and started working on Bob’s. They would always laugh at this.
Katherine and Robert came from humble beginnings. She was always proud of being from the west side. After having kids, they decided to take a gamble and build a house doing most of the work themselves. This trend continued and the houses got bigger and bigger. They realized they had quite the knack for it. They built several beautiful houses, which in many ways symbolized their relationship. Instead of getting smaller as they aged, the houses grew, as did their love for each other. They had the type of relationship we all dream of.
Katherine may have been small in stature and possessed a quiet demeanor, but she had the heart of a lion. She loved her family deeply and was there to defend if needed. Her light will be missed, but her memory and influence live on in those who knew her.
Visitation for Katherine will be held Mon. April 22, from 5-7pm, at the McGann Hay Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Road.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tues. April 23, at 10:30 am, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Msgr. William Schooler officiating. A lunch, at St. Pius X, will immediately follow the Mass. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Polish Cemetery at a later date.
