George F. Benson

George F. Benson, age 70 of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Valparaiso, IN and North Judson, IN passed away January 12, 2010 at home.

He was born September 15, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario Canada, the son of Robert and Agnes (Lowes) Benson.

George was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, America "Judy" (Minix, Dusek) Benson who passed in July 1997. They were married on September 21, 1958, in Roseland, IN.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Ms. Bonnie Lesser of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers: Bob (Merilee) Benson of Chicago, IL and Gary (Heidi) Benson of Las Vegas, NV; two step daughters: Donna (Victor) Giannetto of Mishawaka, IN and Dawn (Paul) Sowell of Mishawka, IN; one stepson, Ken (Connie) Dusek of Osceola, IN; one son, Todd ( Nancy) Benson of Laporte, IN; one daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Adair of Levinia, TN; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

George retired after 31 years from Bethlehem Steel Corp., Burns Harbor, IN in 1994.
Cremation will take place January 14, 2010 and a spring internment will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
