Suzanne “Sue” Morrow Slater

NAPPANEE - Suzanne “Sue” Morrow Slater, age 77, passed peacefully on her 52nd wedding anniversary at 6:10 pm, Monday, December 28, 2015 at her residence. She was born July 14, 1938 in Columbus, OH to Daniel and Helen (Hurtt) O'Donnell. Mrs. Slater was a 1956 graduate of Central High School in South Bend. She graduated from South Bend Memorial School of Nursing in 1959. On December 28, 1963, she married Thomas Benjamin Slater at the First Methodist Church in South Bend. The Slaters moved to Nappanee in 1956. Sue was a surgical nurse from 1959 - 1967 at South Bend Memorial Hospital. She worked at Elkhart General Hospital in the Emergency Room for many years. She also was an Insurance Examiner, and homemaker. She was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church, the Tri Kappa Sorority Nappanee Chapter, and was part of the Memorial Hospital Alumni group. Surviving are her husband, Thomas; son, Michael Slater of South Bend; daughter, Cindi (Tony) Suddon of Otsego, Michigan; grandsons Brennan and Andrew Suddon; and brother, Larry “Mickey” (Diana) O'Donnell of Tuscon, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Daniel O'Donnell. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Nappanee United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2015. Rev. Jim Davidson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Elkhart County. Thomas Borges (1956)

The O'Donnels were a special family... knew all three kids...Suzanne, Danny and Mickey from Madison and Central... Suzanne and I were in the Class of '56... RIP Suzanne...
