Arthur Earl Hopson, a beacon of joy and devotion, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at Healthwin Specialized Care in South Bend, Indiana. Born on February 9, 1937, in Nashville, Tennessee, due to the great flood in his hometown Paducah, Kentucky.  Arthur was the spirited youngest son of the late Bishop James R. Hopson Sr. and Mother Olevia Hopson. He grew up in a loving home surrounded by his siblings, where he learned the values of family, faith, and service. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 9, under the leadership of his father, the late Bishop James R. Hopson Sr. at Holiness Church of God.

Arthur's educational journey began in Paducah, Kentucky, and concluded at Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army, where he further developed his work ethic, tenacity, dedication which he applied to every aspect of his life.

Following his honorable military service, Arthur embarked on a successful career as a shipping manager at Spiegel's, where he was employed for thirty years. His colleagues remember him for his work ethic and his ability to bring laughter and lightness into any situation.

Arthur's personality was truly larger than life. He was often described as the life of the party, with a humor that could uplift anyone's spirits. He had a passion for music, a talent he first showcased as a child playing the drums, supporting his father's ministry alongside his siblings.

A man of deep faith, Arthur was well versed in the Bible and embraced every opportunity to share his insights and revelations from the scriptures. His interpretations were thoughtful reflecting a life lived with a genuine love for his spiritual journey. He found great joy in sharing his faith and was a source of inspiration to many.

Arthur's legacy is one of love, laughter, and passion. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew him. He was married to Mattie Bourne and later shared love with Bettie Dixon to which one child was born.  One of his greatest joys was being a father figure in the lives of Kenneth Shepherd, Edward Lewis, Denise Dixon, Jori Dixon Mitchell, Joseph Dixon, and Marcus Dixon.  His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will continue to warm the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a family that adored him. Arthur had an unbreakable bond with his daughter. To see them together you would see an example of unconditional love, protection, nurturing, and encouragement.  His playful spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of being part of his life.

As we bid farewell to Arthur Earl Hopson, we reflect on a life well-lived—a life filled with passion, humor, and an unwavering commitment to his daughter and faith. His laughter will echo in the halls of our memory, and his spirit will remain a guiding light for those he leaves behind. Arthur's journey on earth has concluded, but his story will continue to inspire, and his love will forever be felt by those who were blessed to know him.

Arthur was proceeded in death by his parents, Bishop James R. Hopson Sr. and Mother Olevia Hopson, a brother, Paul Hopson, a sister, Betty Hopson-Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Olevia (David) Brooks, one brother, Bishop James R. Hopson Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Funeral Services for Arthur will be at 1pm on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel where family and friends may begin to gather at 12noon. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery.
