SOUTH BEND - John R. Coble, 71, residing in Bonita Springs, FL, and northern Michigan, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2010, at Hope Hospice, Joanne's House, Bonita Springs after battling cancer for several years. He was born on August 5, 1938, in Indianapolis, IN, as the son of Dr. Almon J. and Beatrice (Smith) Coble.

John graduated from Central High School, South Bend, IN, and DePauw University, Greencastle, IN, where he started the first sailing club and was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

On April 23, 1960, in St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church, South Bend, he married Marcia (Beard) Coble. John was the founder and CEO of Cargo Systems, Inc., in Elkhart, IN. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend. He and Marcia made their home in South Bend for over 40 years. Upon his semi-retirement, they split their time between the family cottage in northern Michigan and Bonita Springs. John loved racing his Sunfish sailboat in northern Michigan and was also a golfing enthusiast. He was a former member of the South Bend Country Club and the Vines Country Club. He was a member of Shadow Wood Country Club, Bonita Springs, Petoskey Bayview Country Club, Petoskey, MI, and also the Crooked Lake Yacht Club, Oden, MI. His love for antique boats and cars led him to compete in the Great American Road Race in 1994.

John is survived by his loving wife, Marcia; his two daughters, Tracy B. (Robert Farris II) Coble of Lexington, KY, and Leslie P. (Timothy) Klusczinski of South Bend, IN; mother-in-law, Virginia E. Beard of Bonita Springs, FL; and his brother, Glenn D. (Caryl) Coble of Marion, OH. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Patrick and Kelly Klusczinski, and Reagan Farris; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 9751 Bonita Beach Road SE, Bonita Springs, FL 34135, at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, Joanne's House, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL 37135; to the Pickerel-Crooked Lake Association, P.O.
