ROY BOLTON

SOUTH BEND - Roy Lee Bolton traded life for eternity on March 17, 2008, in St. Joseph Medical Center. He accepted the Lord at an early age and was a member of Grace A.M.E. Zion Church, where he had once served as trustee. Roy Bolton was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas and Emma Bolton who preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and served as sergeant in the United States Army. In addition to serving in the Army, Mr. Bolton worked as a teachers' aid in the Chicago School district, was employed by the Cook County Corrections of Chicago, IL, and for 26 years, worked as a United States Postal employee, where he eventually retired. Mr. Bolton was a 33rd degree Mason of Western Consistory #28, Valley of Chicago Lodge. He was honored with an appreciation award from the Brutal Brothers Creation Team for his faithful service. Mr. Bolton's other affiliations included the Martin Luther King Center's Men's Club, the Charles Black Center, and the South Bend Police Department Citizen's Academy.

Mr. Roy Lee Bolton had a brother who preceded him in death, Lloyd Wilbur Bolton, and leaves to cherish his memory sisters, Irean M. Reed of South Bend, IN, and Deloris A. Smith of Kalamazoo, MI; a brother, H. Dwight Bolton of Poughkeepsie, NY, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Also left to cherish his memory is Toy who was special to his heart. Though his family and friends will miss his presence her on earth, the angels are rejoicing for his child of God who has made it home.

Services for Mr. Roy L. Bolton will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 24, in the Grace A.M.E. Zion Church, 1121 N. Vasser St., South Bend. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will follow funeral services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with services.
