Juanita (Redding) Harvell

July 30, 1948 ~ April 12, 2025 76 Years Old

 

Ms. Juanita Redding-Harvell was born July 30, 1948 in South Bend Indiana to the late Inez and Edgar Redding, Sr.  She passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025 at the age of 76. 

Juanita was raised in a Christian home and carried the love of Christ in her heart and in her daily life. She confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Bernard L. White Sr. and continued as a lifetime member under the leadership of Pastor Andre A. McGhee.  She served as an Usher and as a Junior Usher Supervisor.  She was a member of Sunday School Adult Class #8 and served as an officer of the Sunday School, the Student Council, and the Trustee Board.

She was a 1965 graduate of the former Central High School. Her employment history included Clark Equipment, South Bend Lathe, Liberty Mutual and Press Ganey.

Juanita loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed interacting with her brothers and sisters in Christ of Greater St. John. Her hobbies included traveling, dancing, listening to music and being involved with activities at the Robinson Center and the Martin Luther King Dream Center where she was a member of the Alberta King Women’s Club.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Harvell, Sr.; two brothers, Edgar Redding Jr and Allen Redding. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Kenya Harvell; two grandchildren, Sable Harvell and Sarita Harvell; one great grandchild, Khloe Iman Ramos; other family members include, niece, Lesa Redding-Murray, Larry & Monique Harvell,  Adrian Redding and Michael Redding, Taylor Jackson, Naomi Davis;  Brenda Byrd, Dennis, Darryl and Terrance Moore; Shirley, Jackie, Leroy,  Beverly, and Earnest Gorden, and Tracie King; Jean Hudgins and Michelle Collins and Raymond Barbour; special friends,  Doris Brown, Loretta and Robert Hunt, Sandra Coleman, Brenda Blake and Fredia Avance; along with other relatives, friends and her Church family.   

As we say a final goodbye to our beloved Sister Harvell, we must hold close to our hearts the memories of her generosity, wisdom, and gentle grace. May her legacy live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared, reminding us of all the beauty found in a life dedicated to serving God and others.
