Thomas James Bucher

Thomas James Bucher, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on July 21, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born on September 11, 1947, and on June 15, 1968, he married the love of his life, RoseAnn Catherine Pawlowski, at St. Stephen's Church.

Throughout his life, Thomas was a devoted fan of Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs. He had a passion for youth hockey and spent many hours involved in the sport. On weekends, he enjoyed DJ’ing for the Music Machine at weddings and events around the Michiana area, bringing joy and music to those around him.

Thomas had a long and successful career at Hoosier Spring Co. and proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy on the USS Coral Sea. In the early 1970s, he owned and operated a service station in downtown South Bend, where he made many lasting connections in the community.

Thomas was proceeded in death by his parents James Joseph Bucher and Loraine (Yates) Petty, stepfather Meredith Petty and sisters Sharon, Shirley, Carol and Sandy. Thomas will be deeply missed by his wife, RoseAnn (Pawlowski) Bucher, his children Melissa (Jeffery Scott), Brian, and James Bucher, his grandchildren Savannah (Ross Gaddy), Sarah, David, Jacob, James, and Genevieve, and his great granddaughter Ellie Mae. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of family, and his dedication to his passions and community.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Funeral Home (Guisinger Chapel) 3718 S Michigan St., South Bend on Saturday July 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Immediately following the visitation, the family will be hosting a gathering of friends and family, with food and refreshments at a location t/b/d.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Center for Hospice (Raclin House) 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 in Thomas's memory. He will be forever cherished and loved by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
