Mary Basker (Wilson)

Mary Adele (Basker) Wilson
Dec. 24, 1949 - March 10, 2021
SOUTH BEND, IN -

Mary A. Wilson, 71, of South Bend, Indiana, went to a better place Wednesday, March 10, after an illness. Mary was born December 24, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Eugene and Hazel (Condley) Basker. She was a 17-year-old graduate of South Bend Central in 1967.

Mary was born, raised, and lived in South Bend, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Wilson. She was a very devoted mother and protector to everyone she knew. She had several jobs, including AM General (where she was nicknamed EagleEye and named the first woman to obtain a job that was said only a man could have); Southern Bell Telephone Company (where she was honored and excited to transfer a call for Tom Jones); and owning her own company, Country Crafters At Heart, which was her true passion, being an artist, sewing and making crafts.

She enjoyed taking care of and watching Hallmark with the late Hazel Basker (her mother). She was a master at interior decorating and making the house a home. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Her cooking will be forever remembered. Not only was she a very devoted woman to her family and friends; she was also a very proud servant of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Melissa and Gabriel; and grandchildren, Breanna, Riley, and Koltin. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters: Gene (Peggy), Tim (Kim), Annie (Tom), Tom (Ana), Chris (Elaine), Dan (Jane), and Kim.

She is preceded in death and gratefully reunited in heaven with her father, Eugene, mother, Hazel; brothers, Joe, George, James, and John, and her beloved son, Jeffery.

Visitation with family and friends will be held Sunday, March 14 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, from 2-4pm. A Funeral service will be held Monday, March 15 at Noon also at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel. A burial service at Southlawn Cemetery will follow.
