GRANGER - Howard E.H. Blank, 77, of Granger, died Thursday evening in Elkhart General Hospital after a battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. Howard retired from MTI, South Bend, where he worked for many years as a sales rep and retired in 1994. He was born March 25, 1931, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, to Erich and Frida (Koester) Blank, who preceded him in death along with a brother, Harold.

On May 13, 1960, in San Fernando, California, he married Alma Jeanne Danker, who survives along with three sons, Harold (Mary Lou) of Ludington, MI, Kirk (Monica) and Kevin (Kimberlee) of Granger, IN; one brother, James (Kathy) Blank of Buchanan, Michigan; grandchildren, Valerie, Valentino, Veronica, Mitchell, Morgan, Kyle and Kelly.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, in New Life Church, 11593 McKinley Hwy., Osceola. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. today in HICKEY Funeral Homes, 17131 Cleveland Road. Howard was a Marine Corps veteran, a member of New Life Church, had graduated from South Bend Central High School, and wintered in Harlingen, Texas. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., 3300 E. Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718; or to ALS, 27001 Agoura Road, Calabasas, CA 91301.
